Over the years, more and more women have been more health conscious with their decisions. One of the biggest signs that people are now more health conscious is the increasing number of organic food markets.

Nowadays, even the cosmetic industry is tapping into this market. More and more women are looking for ways to look good with makeup with the hazards of toxins that are found in traditional chemical-based makeup. If you are still using traditional make up, here are a few points that can, hopefully, convince you to make the better choice in face cosmetics.

One of the biggest reasons why a lot of women are choosing to use mineral make up is because, after all this time, there is still no regulation as to how much chemical ingredients cosmetic companies can put in their products. Although there are no short term effects related to traditional makeup use, the accumulation of harmful toxins found in the makeup in a person’s body can lead to unwanted sickness and disease.

For example, mercury is a very poisonous chemical, and it has been used in makeup for decades. Mercury is known to cause degenerative disease. It can also cause allergies, irritations of the skin and even, neurotoxicity. Some makeup also contains Parabens (a carcinogen) and Sodium lauryl sulfate that can cause cell degeneration, which can speed up the aging process, and skin and hair damage.

This are only a few of the most common ingredients used that are used in traditional make-up.

Another great thing about mineral makeup is that all mineral makeup offer natural UVA and UVB protection. Now who wouldn’t want that? Mineral make up (like Revlon New Complexion Mineral Foundation) is made of titanium dioxide, a known natural UV ray protector. By having UV protection, you keep your skin protected from the harmful rays the sun; you keep yourself from getting sun damage. Sometimes sunblock lotions also contain harmful chemicals; by having a natural source of UV protection, you can protect your skin at the same time keep yourself healthy.

Lastly, mineral makeup is environmentally friendly. Unlike traditional make that uses synthetic materials, mineral makeup is actually biodegradable. Millions of women use make up daily, if they all use the traditional makeup; imagine how much damage they can cause to the environment just by throwing their excess makeup. It can pollute the atmosphere and the water which can hurt the environment and us. Mineral makeup is actually biodegradable, making it easy for us women to do our part in saving the environment.
