Being Prepared for Liposuction Surgery

For a person to actually be eligible for any plastic surgery procedure there are always minimal requirements to ensure the safety of the patient. Laser liposuction surgery is no exception to this limitation even if it isn’t nearly as high risk of a procedure as traditional liposuction and the requirements are actually very similar to any other type of liposuction surgery.

The patient desiring laser lipo must adhere to some physical examinations to ensure that they are healthy enough to make a full recovery from the procedure with minimal complications. There is also a mental preparedness that the prospective patient must have to ensure they are ready for whatever the outcome might entail.

In terms of physical eligibility for laser assisted liposuction, the patient must not be overweight and while there are slight differences by the clinics it generally is about ten to twenty percent within their ideal weight. It is also important that the patient shows that they can maintain a reasonable weight for an extended period of time. The standard for this is usually one year, so the patient must be able to show that they have maintained a relatively stable weight for at least one year.

After the procedure, the fat cells are taken from the body and that is a permanent change. Gaining an excessive amount of weight after the procedure will be very dangerous since more fat will be stored in fewer fat cells. This is part of the mental preparedness since there is a bit of discipline required to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle to match.

In other aspects of mental maturity, the patient has to be fully aware of any potential side effects that could result from the surgery. There have been cases where patients suffer from post traumatic disorder because of the dramatic changes to their body have caused them to not recognize the person looking back at them in the mirror. This can be a serious and damaging issue for those who are not prepared mentally.
